VISCOSITY
A measure of liquid resistance to flow at specified temperatures. Several different systems for measuring viscosity are described below.
KINEMATIC VISCOSITY
Measured by rate of flow through capillary tubes which permit highly accurate measurement. Calculated in centistokes, kinematic viscosity has worldwide application and is measured at standard Fahrenheit and Celsius (formerly Centigrade) temperatures.
SAYBOLT UNIVERSAL VISCOSITY
Measured in seconds (SUS) of time required for a fixed volume to flow through a standard tube. Typical test temperatures are 100°F and 210°F.
